Fugitive Of The Senses

When all the blood drained from this far-too-solid earth
We knelt before the fourth blood moon remembering our youth
And the dull perfume petrichor teased at our lungs
How our hopes were scattered and our eyes were stung
As the bracchiating brayers knelled in their youth
Such anodyne anthems of beauty and truth
The first song of money, the second the media
From our lone lunar plinth we roared
'Kids, we don't need ya!'

Then torn from the nebula nascent but wise,
From the fabric of history timelessly prised:
An infant in indigo waving his aura
Luminous kinship with fauna and flora.
Reading your heart like blind fingers on Braille
No webbed feet or primordial tail

We held him so close we could feel his heart beating,
The connection was rich, and true but so fleeting:

I guess that's the thing about nature's own loners -
We'll still feel alone if they endlessly clone us.

Everyone who thinks they're free
Defers to one on bended knee
But measure freedom in degrees
For love is surely heavenly.
