INTRODUCTION BY NICK HUDSON

During the making of my record Kanda Teenage Honey out here in Tbilisi, Georgia, I had the idea of approaching various international artists and asking them to remix the opening track – Khevsureti – named after the mystical, mountainous region in the Northern Caucasus that borders Chechnya and which has begun to provide all the nourishing conditions of what one might term a spiritual home.

I wrote most of the record up there. Hailing from a background of grassroots social action I like to juxtapose my own art practice with activism. Even the term activism seems trite: simply put, I cannot sit and watch atrocity after atrocity meted out by humans upon other humans and sleep soundly at night. What currency do I have? What is my capital than can be leveraged for hopeful, positive change? It's music.

So when I asked the remixers if they would be willing to donate their time and talent to this endeavour they graciously filed in and provided a sonic platter of rich and eclectic colour. To them – a thousand thank yous. I'll hand you over to someone with far more authority to talk about and insight into the ongoing horror – why we are doing this and where any funds raised will go:

RUTH J -

I am a humanitarian worker with 20 years experience in the middle east. I've worked in some of the worlds worst and most complex humanitarian disasters. What we are seeing today in Gaza is the most brutal and willful neglect for human life that I have seen to date in my work. The situation on the ground is impossibly complex from an operational point of view, and the whole thing is entirely preventable.

Each and every one of those 25,000 palestinians killed ( mostly women and children) didnt need to die, likewise the roughly 1200 Isralis killed on the 7th October did not need to die. The people of Isreal and Palestine need a durable political solution that allows all people within those two states the space to access the full breadth of their human rights, equally. If this had been put in place at any point over the last 75 years that the palestinians have endured this discrimantory occupation, it is arguable that we would not be witnessing the death and destruction, that appears to meet all the criteria of a genocide, that we are seeing today.

The situation inside of Gaza is horrific. People do not have food, there is barely any water, all the hospitals have been bombed and most are totally out of service.

A ceasefire and a political solution are urgently needed, but while the bombing continues, people need life-saving aid now. almost the entire 2.2 million population of Gaza has been displaced and is now squashed into an area that is less than half the size of the Gaza strip, an area that was already one of the most densly populated.

The funds raised by this release will be used to support two local grass roots organisations inside of Gaza. The first organistaion is a long-standing palestinian NGO that works with people with disabilities. Thousands of people have lost limbs in the relentless bombing, and will need help to adapt to a new way of living.

The second is a more informal group of women who have mobilised in the current situation and are focusing on reaching those who are left out of the collective shelters, those in the north, which is not almost impossible to reach, and the most marginalised, with basic supplies such as food, hygiene items and baby milk.

We will be able to ensure that aid reaches people in Gaza quickly, using methods for financial transfer that are still working.

FARIDA K

I am a worker with a large humanitarian organisation currently active in delivering aid to Gaza. This is a personal statement. We - as humanity are being ground in another metaphorical windmill of life, one we all are sharing. We are witnessing a horrible injustice and dehumanization process where innocent people are systematically denied access to fundamental necessities, including healthcare, water, food, and electricity.

We reached the point where we can’t stand still and must admit the loss of 3700 Palestinian children is the undeniable indicator of horrific injustice – it would take more than 50 school busses (72 per children per bus) to carry the Palestinian children killed so far by the conflict.

Additionally, daily more than 150 women courageously giving birth without basic access to functional health facilities. Hospitals fall victim to bombings, The situation remains extremely dangerous, with innocent Palestinian children suffering from panic attacks in the aftermath of nearby bombings, highlighting the profound psychological toll. A poignant case is that of Alma, a little girl in Gaza trapped under the rubble of a five-story building, who, instead of seeking help for herself, asked rescue teams to rescue her parents, little brother, and grandmother.

Standing with people who are in need the most, we can provide them with basic needs such as water, hygiene materials, and food – 2.2 million people are on the brink of a severe food crisis, and more than 350.000 people have reached catastrophic levels of famine.
In this critical situation, it is vital to recognize that direct humanitarian aid funding is the swiftest way to assist those who are witnessing and living hell on earth.

This urgent appeal emphasizes the need for immediate action to alleviate the suffering of the affected populations and provide undernourished children and vulnerable mothers with the most basic needs. Breaking our silence, we must collectively voice our opposition to the injustice and genocide that is happening to the innocent population of Gaza. We have no moral right other than to choose humanity and kindness in the ongoing Murder of Humanity. Mobilizing swift action to address the current humanitarian catastrophe resonates in the cries for help that echo through the chaos
